Author Information > Electronic Submission
Authors
are encouraged to submit their figures electronically, either
on CD or via Email to the production editor handling the
book or journal. Please follow the listed guidelines to
ensure your illustrations are reproduced with the highest
possible quality.
- Illustrative
charts, tables, diagrams, and photographs should be used
to enhance, clarify, or reduce the length of the text.
Include as many illustrations (photographs, charts, graphs,
and radiographs) as are required to properly illustrate
the text. Tables should not be merely a different form
of expression of data adequately covered in the text;
instead they should be selected and arranged for the sake
of clarity and comprehensiveness.
- Every
illustration must be extremely sharp and color balanced.
NO blurred images or overexposed or underexposed illustrations
will be printed.
- All
figures and all tables will be separately numbered in
consecutive series with the chapter number preceding the
number of the figure or table, eg, Figure 8-10; Table
2-6; Table 14-5.
- Tables
and legends for illustrations should not be incorporated
into the text but typed on separate sheets.
- PowerPoint
images (files) will not be accepted.
- All
images submitted as digital files must be scanned at >
300 dpi and saved in a TIFF or EPS format. Preferred formats:
Photoshop (save as TIFF files) and Illustrator (save as
EPS files). For electronic line art, scan images at a
resolution of at least 1200 dpi and save electronic line
art as EPS. For electronic photography, save as TIFF files
at a resolution of 300 dpi. TIFF files should be set to
the size you want to see the images in the book or journal.
TIFF files cannot be resized by the publisher. If you
have any questions, please contact our office.
